The Madonna of the Pinks - Raphael's The Madonna of the Pinks has been sold by the Duke of Northumberland to the J. Paul Getty Museum, Los Angeles. The National Gallery, London, where the painting has hung on loan for the past 10 years, is mounting a campaign to raise the £30 million needed to save this masterpiece for the nation.
This is an authentic original page from Country Life magazine, part of the iconic series often affectionately referred to as the “Girls in Pearls” portraits — elegant society images that captured a distinctive era of British publishing and portraiture.
