  • Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught and Strathearn (1850–1942). He was the seventh child and third son of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert and is often cited as his mother's favorite son.
  • Military Career: Arthur had a long and distinguished military career spanning over 40 years. He rose to the rank of Field Marshal in 1902 and served in various locations across the British Empire, including South Africa, Egypt, and India.
  • Governor General of Canada: In 1911, he became the first member of the British royal family to serve as the Governor General of Canada, a post he held until 1916.
  • Marriage and Family: He married Princess Louise Margaret of Prussia in 1879. They had three children: Princess Margaret (who became Crown Princess of Sweden), Prince Arthur of Connaught, and Princess Patricia (known for the regiment Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry).
  • Longevity: He lived to the age of 91, making him the last surviving son of Queen Victoria
