The featured frontispiece this week is a portrait of H.R.H. Princess Mary, Viscountess Lascelles, with her two sons, the Hon. Gerald Lascelles and the Hon. George Lascelles. Princess Mary, later Princess Royal and Countess of Harewood, had two sons with her husband, Henry Lascelles.

  • Gerald David Lascelles (1924–1998): The younger son, known for his varied interests and public life.
  • Princess Mary: The only daughter of King George V, she played an active role in royal duties throughout her life.
  • Later Life: Princess Mary died on March 28, 1965, aged 67, following a sudden heart attack while walking at Harewood House in Yorkshire.
  • Burial: She was laid to rest alongside her husband in the Lascelles family vault at All Saints' Church, Harewood.
