David Pinkerton Fleming, known judicially as Lord Fleming, was a prominent Scottish legal and political figure.

  • Solicitor-General for Scotland: He held the office from 1922 to 1923 and again from 1924 to 1926 under Unionist governments.
  • Member of Parliament: He served as Unionist MP for Dunbartonshire from 1924 until his appointment to the bench.
  • Scottish Judge: He was appointed a Senator of the College of Justice in December 1925, taking the judicial title Lord Fleming.
  • The Fleming Report (1944): Later in his career, he chaired the committee responsible for the influential Fleming Report, which helped shape the Education Act of 1944.
  • Family: He married Beatrice Joan Swan (1880–1965) on September 4, 1913, in North Berwick. They had at least one daughter, Anne Fleming, born around 1914.
