c.1836 Department of Haut-Rhin, Colmar, France, Antique Card Map by Bourrut-Le Meri – 3rd Edition
An original early 19th-century French educational card map from Analyse géographique des départements de la France, 3ème édition, originally created by Bourrut-Le Meri and published in Paris around 1836.
EDITION – This card is from the scarce third edition, c.1836. Earlier editions appeared around 1819 and 1830. The third-edition cards are extremely similar to those of the second edition and appear to have been produced from the same or closely related plates. The publisher of this third edition is not identified on the material I have.
DATE PRINTED – c.1836.
SIZE – Approximately 13.3 x 8.2 cm.
CONDITION – Good for its age. This is a genuine antique card approaching 200 years old, so there may be age-related imperfections such as toning, marks, spotting, creases, edge wear or other minor faults. Both the front and reverse of the actual card are shown in detail so that its condition can be assessed carefully. Please study the images, as they form an important part of the description.
PROVENANCE – This card comes from an incomplete set of the c.1836 third edition. The surviving original box is shown in the final photographs for provenance and historical context.
PLEASE NOTE – The box shown in the final photographs is not included in the sale and is not for sale. You are purchasing the individual antique card map shown in the first images only.
