Surveyed in 1777 and corrected down to 1783, it records the historic road network around \u003cstrong\u003eKircubbin, Greyabbey, Mount Stewart, Newtownards and Donaghadee\u003c\/strong\u003e, together with numerous estates, country houses and connecting roads in \u003cstrong\u003eCounty Down\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe original heading \u003cstrong\u003e“From Portaferry to Newtown-Ardes \u0026amp; Donaghadee”\u003c\/strong\u003e identifies the wider route represented by the sheet. The road follows the shoreline of \u003cstrong\u003eStrangford Lough\u003c\/strong\u003e, passing through settlements and estates associated with the \u003cstrong\u003eArds Peninsula\u003c\/strong\u003e before reaching \u003cstrong\u003eNewtownards\u003c\/strong\u003e, while another route continues eastwards towards \u003cstrong\u003eDonaghadee\u003c\/strong\u003e.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eKircubbin\u003c\/strong\u003e is clearly marked beside \u003cstrong\u003eStrangford Lough\u003c\/strong\u003e, with the road continuing through the surrounding countryside towards \u003cstrong\u003eGreyabbey\u003c\/strong\u003e.
