Miss Sophie Armitage Country Life Magazine Portrait February 11 1999. CXCIII No. 6

Miss Sophie Armitage, aged 18, is the daughter of Wing Commander Harry Armitage and of the late Mrs Armitage (Countess Clairon d'Haussonville). Sophie's great-great-aunt, the Countess d'Haussonville, was painted by Ingres in 1845, and the portrait is included in the current exhibition of his work at the National Gallery (see pages 54-55)...

This is an authentic original page from Country Life magazine, part of the iconic series often affectionately referred to as the “Girls in Pearls” portraits — elegant society images that captured a distinctive era of British publishing and portraiture.
