Mr Arthur Hellyer, who celebrated his 90th birthday yesterday, has written on gardens for COUNTRY LIFE for more than 40 years. A prolific author of horticultural and garden books, he was awarded the Victoria Medal of Honour in Horticulture and the MBE in 1967.

This is an original page from the Country Life Magazine. These ladies portraits were known as "Girls in Pearls".
