Miss Rose Balston and Miss Annabel Howard - Rose, 26, and Annabel, 25, are pictured in the Art Deco Eltham Palace at Greenwich. Both lecture for Art History Abroad and spend much of their time teaching together in Italy. Rose has recently set up Art History UK exploring the culture of London, and Annabel is writing a biography of Florentine painter Jacopo Pontormo, a friend of Michelangelo.

This is an authentic original page from Country Life magazine, part of the iconic series often affectionately referred to as the “Girls in Pearls” portraits — elegant society images that captured a distinctive era of British publishing and portraiture.
