A collection of c.1836 third-edition French departmental card maps from Analyse géographique des départements de la France, originally created by Bourrut-Le Meri and published in Paris.
These early 19th-century engraved cards depict individual French departments and combine decorative maps with detailed geographical information. Unlike the earlier c.1819 first-edition examples, these later cards are uncoloured, allowing the original engraved detail and decorative designs to stand out clearly.
The c.1836 third-edition cards are extremely similar to those of the second edition and appear to have been produced from the same or closely related plates. The publisher of this third edition is not identified on the surviving material.
Approaching 200 years old, these original antique French card maps retain the toning, patina and individual characteristics expected of genuine period material. This collection represents surviving examples from an incomplete third-edition set and offers an unusual record of French geography from the early 19th century.
