Bilder ur Nordens Flora
Explore our collection of original antique botanical prints
from Bilder ur Nordens Flora
(Illustrations of the Flora of the North),
the celebrated three-volume botanical work by Swedish botanist
Carl Axel Magnus Lindman (1856–1928).
First published between 1901 and 1905, this important work
was based on the earlier Svensk Botanik by
Johan Wilhelm Palmstruch and was subsequently revised
and expanded. The 1922–1926 edition, published in
Stockholm by Wahlström & Widstrand, comprises
663 beautifully detailed colour botanical plates
across three volumes.
The illustrations depict the remarkable diversity of
Scandinavian and Northern European flora, including
wildflowers, flowering plants, grasses, ferns, trees
and medicinal plants.
The three volumes comprise:
-
Volume I: Botanical plates 1–221
-
Volume II: Botanical plates 222–441
-
Volume III: Botanical plates 442–663
