• Family Background: He was the son of Quintin Hogg, founder of the Regent Street Polytechnic.
• Early Career: Before entering the legal profession, he studied sugar growing and worked in the West Indies and British Guiana with a firm of merchants.
• Later Honours: In 1929, he was elevated further to become the 1st Viscount Hailsham.
• Legacy: His son, also Quintin Hogg, later followed him into high office and became Lord Chancellor in 1970.
