A collection of rare c.1819 first-edition French departmental card maps from Analyse géographique des départements de la France, originally created by Bourrut-Le Meri and published in Paris.
These early 19th-century engraved cards depict individual French departments and are hand coloured, with the colouring appearing to be original or very early. Each card combines a small decorative map with detailed geographical information and was produced as part of an educational series.
Now more than 200 years old, these original antique French card maps retain the toning, patina and individual characteristics expected of genuine period material. This collection represents surviving examples from an incomplete first-edition set and offers an unusual record of French geography from the early 1800s.
