1778 Taylor & Skinner Ireland Antique Road Map pages 97/98 Portlaoise, Maryborough, Mountrath, Castletown, Pike of Rushall, Borris-in-Ossory, Roscrea, Dunkerrin, Moneygall, Toomevara, Nenagh, Silvermines, County Tipperary, County Laois, County Offaly. There are other towns shown but these are the main ones I could identify. I have used the modern name spellings and not those as shown on the map which are sometimes spelt slightly different. To be expected for a map 239+ years old.
This antique Ireland road map is from Taylor & Skinner’s ”Maps of the Roads of Ireland, Surveyed 1777” Published for the Authors as the Act directs 14th November 1778. These were the first road maps of Ireland to be published in a book.
This is an original map from a damaged copy of the book and is guaranteed to be 239+ years old. This is a first edition of this map. Taylor & Skinner published a second edition of Maps of the Roads of Ireland in 1783 that had some minor changes, names added and with the addition of one extra map at the end.
